HSV-2 IgG/IgM Rapid Test (Fluorescence Immunoassay)

The HSV-2 IgG/IgM Rapid Test is an in vitro immunoassay for the qualitative determination of IgG and IgM class antibodies to HSV2 in human serum. The test is intended for use as an aid in the assessment of immune status and as an aid in the diagnosis of HSV infection. The HSV-2 IgM test shall not be used for prenatal screening of asymptomatic people, and the test results of this reagent shall not be used alone as the basis for termination of pregnancy.

Primary infection → Often mild; by lifelong latency

Reactivation:

HSV-1: Mucosal ulcers / lip lesions (≥1 recurrence/year in most)

HSV-2: Recurrent genital herpes (>99% of recurrent cases)

Immunocompromised patients: Severe, extensive lesions

CNS involvement: Herpes encephalitis (HSV-1)
